Dr. Johanna Carpenter Lyden is a licensed clinical psychologist and is board-certified in the specialty of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology. She specializes in psychotherapy, parent consultation, and behavioral sleep treatment with children, adolescents, and young adults. Dr. Lyden is an expert in addressing a broad range of emotional and behavioral concerns in early childhood, childhood, and adolescence, including those related to anxiety, OCD, depression, disruptive and oppositional-defiant behavior, ADHD, tics/Tourette syndrome, trichotillomania, school difficulties, and toileting challenges. She also has a special interest in treating insomnia and other behavioral sleep difficulties in infants, toddlers, children, and adolescents. Dr. Lyden is committed to using evidence-based strategies and interventions, including cognitive-behavioral therapy with exposure (CBT), Exposure/Response Prevention (ERP), and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). She is certified as a PCIT therapist and within-agency trainer by PCIT International. Dr. Lyden received a B.A. in Psychology from Yale University and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Temple University. Prior to entering private practice, she was a pediatric psychologist for 10 years at Nemours/A.I. duPont Hospital for Children, where she also completed her doctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship training. While at Nemours, a portion of her time was spent providing behavioral sleep treatment within the Division of Pulmonology. Dr. Lyden also previously held an academic appointment as Clinical Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University. Dr. Lyden is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA), the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, and the Delaware Psychological Association. She serves as an editorial board member of the APA journal, "Clinical Practice in Pediatric Psychology." Dr. Lyden is licensed as a psychologist in Delaware. She can also provide telehealth services to those residing in PsyPact-participating states, including Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Maryland.
